Writers for Readers
For more than ten years, dedicated and generous authors have helped Literacy Partners teach adults to read - giving them the tools to widen their experience of the world in ways that are only possible through the written word.
Simply put, learning to read is empowering. As one student said “If you think landing on the moon was a great achievement, that’s how I feel about learning to read.”
As we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Writers for Readers, we have committed to an ambitious goal - to fund two Family Literacy Learning Centers, one in the South Bronx and one in Harlem. Together these centers open a whole new world to 200 students a year by teaching them to read and write. And, the cost per student is less than $1,000 for a full year of classes.
What better partnership could there be than illustrious authors working together to teach new readers?
We hope you will join the roster of authors who have been very generous to Literacy Partners with a contribution of $10,000. Please let us know if you would like to join us in support of this critical work and our new campaign goal.
We urge you to help Literacy Partners keep these two Writers for Readers Learning Centers open. Teaching an adult to read has a lasting impact of ending illiteracy for generations to come!
