Position: Grants and Communications Coordinator

Reports To: Director of External Affairs

Status: Exempt

Major Function and Purpose:

Work with the Director of External Affairs to develop and implement a focused strategy for seeking grants from foundations, corporations, and city/state/federal government sources. The focus of this position will be the identification and solicitation of donor prospects through research and grant writing. The coordinator will also assist with the maintenance of all current funding streams, and various public relations activities pursuant to external affairs.

Essential Job Functions:

• Prospect research to identify potential public, private, corporate funding sources.
• Preparation of proposals to corporations, private philanthropic foundations, and government agencies
• Preparation of ancillary materials related to public and private funding sources
• Support services related to public and private funding sources: maintaining grant activity calendars, prepare monthly activity reports and other reports as requested.
• Conduct/coordinate follow-up with funding agencies, preparing monthly activity listings, and all related written/oral communications in this arena
• Conduct meetings to identify and prioritize project needs, discuss grant eligibility, and coordinate the submission of information from multiple departments for proposals and interim and final reports.
• Serve as a resource for the Director of External Affairs and other departments as needed to provide information, research, analysis, written reports, and recommendations.
• Review revenues and expenditures and project status to ensure that proper expenditures are made for grants in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Provide support in the writing and production of newsletters and annual reports.
• Along with other team members, provide data base support for Raiser’s Edge
• Perform other duties as required, in particular those that advance Literacy Partners fundraising and public relations initiatives.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
• Six years of related experience and a record of positive results
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Ability to participate as a team player
• Excellent interpersonal skills
