Associate Director of Individual Giving

Function

Under the direction of and in concert with the Director of External Affairs, the Associate Director of Individual Giving will focus on the acquisition, cultivation, retention, stewardship, and maintenance of all individual giving programs for Literacy Partners, Inc. This position will play a key role in the Strategic Plan for increased donor numbers among individuals at all levels, but beginning with major donors.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of individual giving including coordinating strategies and initiatives to increase donor numbers and dollars (unrestricted and restricted giving)

• Marshall the planning execution process for the identification, cultivation, stewardship, acknowledgement, and solicitation of individual donors and prospects including the creation and maintenance of donor cultivation plans

• Develop related written materials including direct mail pieces and proposals; manage the annual appeal letters

• Identify potential new donors through extensive prospect research

• Work with the Director of External Affairs to develop a strategy to engage younger professionals in LPI through committees and events; work with volunteers to facilitate participation in fundraising, as appropriate

• Manage the Raiser’s Edge donor database including cash receipts and financial reports, draft and/or prepare acknowledgement letters, correspondence and reports

• Assist with public relations activities, organize and/or assist with special events.

• Perform some additional administrative tasks for/or in collaboration with the Director of External Affairs.

• Perform other duties as required by departmental need or Director of External Affairs

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree

• A minimum of five years of professional fundraising experience with emphasis on individual giving and a demonstrable track record of achieving revenue goals

• Sound knowledge of individual annual gift fundraising including customer-relations methods and direct mail programs including a strong entrepreneurial approach in relationship building

• Experience working with donors and volunteers both individually and in committees

• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, organization, writing, editing and proofreading skills

• Computer skills including proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office; experience with Raiser’s Edge is required

• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple responsibilities and tasks effectively and efficiently while ensuring quality outcomes
